Anyway, some clever so-and-so's over in Spain, Sport.es to
be precise, decided it would be a great idea to work out the dream XI
you could buy if you were lucky enough to scoop the jackpot. Enjoy.
GK - Manuel Neuer €45m
The
Bayern shot stopper is a shoo-in for any world XI type listing and is
easily the most valuable goalkeeper in world football. Rated at a
staggering €45m, you'd be a fool not to spend some of the winnings on
the big German sweeper keeper.
RB - Phillip Lahm €22m
Ok,
so Lahm probably isn't the most expensive full-back in the world, but
the Bayern skipper is easily the best. The German is the second Bayern
man in the list which is unsurprising considering their dominance of the
Bundesliga over recent years.
CB - Gerard Pique €40m
The
Spaniard has been formidable ever since resigning for Barcelona way
back when, becoming one of the best centre-backs in world football.
Pique would still be considered a snip for around €40m.
CB - Sergio Ramos €40m
Pique's
defensive partner in the most successful Spanish side ever would make
the most sense to slot alongside him in the middle of the park. That
said, this was the team selected by a local website, so one could argue
Thiago Silva would cost more and be perhaps more effective.
LB - David Alaba €45m
The
third Bayern man in the team, the world's best left-back will
apparently set you back a cool €45m these days. The Austrian is class
and it was a travesty Marcelo was voted into the FIFA World XI ahead of
him.
DM - Sergio Busquets €50m
Some
rate him, some don't, but Sergio Busquets is clearly doing something
right to stay in the Barcelona side who are dominating European football
- he's even worth €50m apparently. The second Catalan man in the team,
and you can only assume the forward berths may contain one or two
more...
CM - Paul Pogba €55m
Thumbs
up Paul, you made it into the team. Pogba being just €5m more costly
than Busquets has to be wrong though, right? The Frenchman is one of the
hottest prospects in world football and would cost a lot to lure away
from Juventus. What an outfit, too!
CM - Lionel Messi €120m
Ah
now this is more like it. The Spaniards have been a bit deviant
sticking the Ballon d'Or winner in centre mid to accommodate for the
forwards, but it's no surprise to see him in the team. €120m will get
you Messi these days, so here's praying a Stoke fan is one of the
winners...
LM - Neymar €100m
Another shoo-in (well, in fact
most of the team are), Neymar slots in neatly at a cool €100m. Why not,
ey? The Brazilian on the left would help the support from the right, who
is none other than...
RM - Cristiano Ronaldo €110m
Yep, who else? The Ballon d'Or
runner up alongside Neymar would make any dream team the world over,
even if picked by monkeys with no eyes...That makes sense, right? Well,
whatever, Ronaldo is class and even at 30-years-old would run rings
around most players in the world.
